How come the non religious person never has an epiphany and becomes a hardcore Catholic?
It's always the televangelist/mega church denominations.
I guess these charismatic preachers (salesmen) are doing a good job coaxing people who are down on their luck to depart with some money and become "born-again".
The pope can only perform so many miracles, while there is a whole army of televangelists.

that ones actually easily explained. when people find something that they feel improves their lives they want to share it. to put another slant on that i'm a health nut, i love working out and hitting the weights. i think weight lifting does amazing things for people and that everyone should do it. i have to restrain myself most of the time or i get worked up and try to get everyone around me to work out and eat healthier or take supplements that i think have helped me alot. same thing is going to go for people who find religion, it does something to them on a psychological level that makes them feel much better about their lives so they want to share that feeling with people.

Fundies are just the only ones you're likely to hear from.
I suspect folks are "finding God" all the time w/o bothering to get into anyone's face about it.
A more accurate question would be, "How come all of the people who find God and then feel the need to get all up in my face about it are Fundamentalists?"

Because it takes a bit of effort to become a Catholic. First communion classes, confirmation classes, all those days of holy obligation. Fundamentalists will let anyone in that very day as long as they say they've found Jesus.
