If they are really lucky, they could get Ducky to skate in there!

It really sucks they are building it downtown. Part of the reason I hate the dome now both when it was for baseball and for football. There is no where to park and it sucks getting in and out of downtown after games. The other site they had picked out would have been a better option.

From what I understand it will be a retractable roof.

Most new stadiums will be.

Open in the summer, closed in the winter.

Much like mud games, snow games will eventually be a thing of the past.

Lambeau Field will never have a roof.

Big problem with this stadium is that its not worth the billion dollars. For it to be worth that much it'd have to be a multi use stadium that actually gets use. Within 5 miles of that site there is, the less than 2 year old Twins stadium, the less than 2 year old Gophers football stadium, the Target center (Timberwoves), Mariccui Arena (Gophers hockey), The Barn (Gophers basketball) and the Minneapolis convention center. Go another couple miles and there is the Xcel energy center (Wild hockey).

doesnt seem like Minnesota could support all those stadiums.

Most of them are already paid for or an economic positive for the state/city. The Gophers football stadium didnt cost much in terms of tax dollars. The Twins stadium pretty much pays for itself, funded by a bar and hotel tax and since they play and sell out 82 games a year. There are economic positives to that stadium in terms of jobs and tax revenue. The Target Center is like 30 years old and already paid for. The Barn and Mooch are paid for by the U of MN and are also 30+ years old.

Arden Hills was a much better site, too bad Ziggy wont just fork out the cash to make it happen. Now they will have a 2nd rate stadium to match the product they put on the field. Being a real estate guy you think he would realize Arden Hills was basically a license to print money.

Downtown is a joke.

Oh well at least I wont have to turn down free Viking tickets from work anymore, anything is better than the dome.

Yep, that was a prime location, used to live within spitting distance of the Arden Hills site. Thousands of acres of nothing, they could have made pretty much anything they wanted in there.
