Well speaking from experience here dog and cat dont taste NEARLY as good as chicken / pork. No matter how you cook them. Also ostriches crocodiles alligators and other assorted animals dont taste as good either. Chicken is pretty much the best ever after meat.

How dumb.
I eat pig and cow and chicken because it's cut into pieces and packaged/smoked/prepared and delicious and affordable. I would do the same if other animals were too.
I love my dog, yeah, but if I had a pig as a pet or a cow or something I probably would love it too.
Just because I love one animal or one type of animal doesn't mean I can't eat another, especially when we've built a whole system based upon that.

Carnivores tend to have awful meat. In essence the higher you go up the more you concentrate the toxins etc.

Yes, just one layer of the mind boggling double standards around animal rights issues.
Fight dogs and go to jail. Treat poultry in the most appalling ways possible...eat lunch.
The whole world is f***ed in the head when it comes to animal rights and 99% of the population is too engrained in their ways to see any truth in the matter.
I just laugh every time people tell me they are animal lovers as they are eating their hamburger/wings/etc.
possibly the dumbest thing i've seen posted on this forum all year.
Yup, thats how they all react.
Don't be mad that I point out your ridiculous double standards.
I remember that that thread you made about how you couldn't bring yourself to kill a lizard despite it being halfway dead already and how you couldn't hurt an animal blah blah blah. And yet, you are perfectly content supporting an industry that routinely inflicts pain and worse on animals. Bravo.
And I'm the stupid one. Right.

Dogs haven't been bred for thousands of years as feed stock. They've been bred for other uses.
This isn't relevant to the point at hand. We have not, nor is it likely possible, to breed out the sociability and core emotions of any livestock.

I've never understood why we give any animals rights.
You are a horrible human if you think animals should be devoid of rights. Many adult animals have the intelligence/emotional capability of a toddler. Knowing how much pain and suffering a human toddler can experience, why would you turn a blind eye and allow the torture or excessive suffering of helpless animals?

While I don't personally disagree with you Levgre, at least Chogram is being honest about his opinion of animals.
Unlike the worst kind of people like Cao who spout sappy nonsense about how much they feel for particular animals yet don't give a flying f*** about others, or if they do just don't care enough to do anything about it.
edit: quote formatting is hard.

I don't get why you can't grasp this. I love my dog but don't really give a flying **** about some other dogs. I love some people and don't give a flying **** about some other people.
I can love some animals and not give a flying **** about other animals, and eat them. It's really that simple.

And I'm fine with that.
You don't particular care if animals have rights, but you do enjoy keeping some for company and utilizing the rest for what they are good for (food in your case primarily).
Thats a perfectly.....reasonable I suppose.....point of view, and one shared by many.
Just don't take that stance and then say how much you could never hurt an animal or that you care about how animals are treated. You care about YOUR animals. AS a whole, you don't give a fluck.
