Generally I don't speed on side streets. Freeways are a different story - around here everyone is either speeding already or else traffic is so bad you can't do anything but inch along.
And if you're not speeding you can get a ticket.

Know why I speed? It's not because I'm in a hurry. It's because it's fun. I like mashing the accelerator on my sports car and being slammed back in my seat. I like doing it when there are other people around so I can whiz by them. I don't care about their well-being and I certainly don't care about the well-being of their children. And if I'm the first person at a stoplight I'm happy, because it means I get to dump the clutch, shoot ahead, and envision the angered face of the slow person behind me as they shake their fist from behind the wheel of their anemic hybrid.

Well, except that one time my wife was bleeding to death from an ectopic. Then I was in a hurry. Fortunately it was late at night and nobody saw me doing 140.

As long as you aren't doing that and blocking the road (as in, I can still get around you), I don't care too much...I DO care when you are at a light in front of me, and take off at the light like my 95 year old great aunt (who still drives might I add, and quite well too).
If you do drive like that on the interstate, then yes, I do care. If you're going 10 under on an interstate, I think you need to get a ticket.
and I agree with what DE said about being at the light first...I ALWAYS pull into the lane that is empty so that I can be at the front of the line, and it drives me insane when I'm riding with someone who doesn't do that. If you are in the front, you have that one less person (in front of you) to worry about. There's not much more I hate than getting stuck behind some slow person when the light turns green and they take 5 seconds to remove their foot from the brake and put it on the gas.
and yes, I have had a couple speeding tickets...but at least I'm not the guy on the road everyone is flipping off every day

Never gotten a ticket either, it's like that in I4 in Orlando especially at night. Not speeding will probably get you killed and I'm not even slightly joking.

Whip, I don't know where you live, but you try going 50 MPH on hwy 80 in norcal.
