All that being said, I agree with wholeheartedly.
However some of us like to speed, the design speed for the modern road in the USA, especially in urban areas, is set more by politics and revenue enhancement rather than the reality of the speed the road itself is designed to safely handle.
The AASHTO Geometric Design book the "Green Book" is the 50 state bible for design speeds and I am intimately familiar with it.
Most interstates were designed for 70 mph, most of the tight corners are found in Urban areas of the later ones built (right of way issues), and the early ones before they had standards.

I have never once received a traffic violation or been involved in an accident. There is a time and place for speeding, usually on country roads with the top down. Not down a highly congested freeway.

Nor have I and I don't purposely drive under the speed limit.

Generally I don't speed on side streets. Freeways are a different story - around here everyone is either speeding already or else traffic is so bad you can't do anything but inch along.
