Yeah, I would not call the character development and dialogue last night "normal", there so key tension points finally addressed.
I can not figure out why Shane saw a walker in that field on the way into town and back and never tried to kill it. Or was it even a walker and was it in his head?

I think that they're going to ratchet up the confrontation and conflict over the next three episodes and then something devastating will bring them all back together. I'm thinking the farm gets swarmed/burned down and they move on to somewhere else. There's a handful of minor characters they can kill off and a major attack at night with fires in the fields would look awesome. Shane said something about preparing for winter. How sweet would it be if they went north and tried to hole up in the mountains?
Also, the next episode looks like a character conflict melodrama based around the new kid and daryl. Another two location episode where very little events take place, but you get a glimpse at the next two episodes. I bet Daryl finds himself by beating the crap out of the kid and Carol probably stops it from happening/helps him find his humanity.

just watched Episode 1 and 2 of this 1/2 season last night...or...episode 8 and 9 of season 2 if you want to get technical.
Decided: Throwing in the towel. I just don't like or care about the characters.

Probably too far away from the farm to bother with it. Especially him being a dumbarse and shooting his gun again drawing any other stray walkers in the area.

I'm thinking rick and shane are going to be chill with each other now since they Rick just saved his life...and the new guy...there's no way they will let him go, he'll just get killed by a zombie or something before too long so they don't have to do any development on him.
but now they have another reason to hate on Andrea, so she's going to get pushed away from the group...maybe her and Glen will leave (since he's a pussy and thinks it's the hot chick's fault that he froze, i think he's going to want to leave).

In the coming attractions for next week they showed Shane and Andrea talking about Rick being in charge and Shane mentioned: "Lets change that." So I am unsure whether that he is so appreciative and things will be ok between him and Rick or Shane and Andrea are talking about leaving.
Also, they show Darryl beating the crap of the new guy and appears to be working, beating, him for information about his group. I got the impression Darryl knew this guy before the crap hit the fan.

well shane and andrea talked about leaving last season too...maybe they'll finally do it. I don't like either one of them. if they had been in my group (andrea especially if she wasn't showing me her ta-ta's), I'd have shot them a long time ago...She is completely useless (everyone in the group can already shoot a gun, and that's ALL she does now), she probably used to live off fast food all of the time lol.
Darryl is the only one in the entire group that I would be willing to go out alone with, because he seems to be the only one who can handle himself...Which probably means he's going to get killed eventually.

Good episode, I enjoyed it.
Some of the zombie makeup was kind of shabby and overdone on a few of the shots - to the point that some of them looked like they were wearing rubber masks and not "real people" in a state of advanced decay...
As for the Shane/Rick deal - Shane isn't going anywhere and I'm glad for that. He's too important to the story. Without Shane it would just be some goddamn hippie fest where everyone is all "la de daaa we're just going to live communally, the way we were supposed to with no conflicts and perfect harmony, excuse me while I go make some granola from my organically grown blah blah blah..." (/FKN BARF!) instead of being like a group of real people, with real conflicts and real issues between them... Shane's presence is important to counterbalance Dale's presence, which would be otherwise completely intolerable imo.
Oh, and as for the whiney suicidal bint, Andrea was correct - no time for prozac and self affirmation therapy in this era - siht or get off the pot. It looks like the chick got off the pot.
