In fact we will lose our sun eventually. Once it exhausts its hydrogen supply in the core, it will begin swelling as it burns the remaining hydrogen from the layers surrounding the core. It will eventually become a Red Giant at the height of its expansion. At this point it will begin burning helium and eventually eject most of its outer layer and collapse into a White Dwarf.

The good news is we will all be dead before this even starts

Interesting. You think the sun will just burn out like a light? I think it will swell up tremendously and cook the first few planets. And while most of the large meteors have collected with other celestial bodies, there are enough rogues out there right now. And we have some passing our path quite often. Don't think we will miss them until the sun burns out. Eventually one will get us. And while some life may survive, evolution will be in full swing.

Our species is so good at adapting the environment that we have remained unchanged for thousands of years. But if the need arises it will certainly kick in again. And who knows where that may lead us. If something cataclysmic did happen we would have isolated pockets of humanity throughout the world and given enough time we would once again have several varieties of humans. Scientist for far too long have tried to line them up in some sort of descending order. I just don't think it works that way. It's like a species of fish getting stuck in separate watersheds....you end up with 2 changed and different species

I think if we avoid a major bolide impact for the next 50 years we will become advanced enough to be able to deflect or just steer one away perhaps. I mean think of how far we have come since einstein already and now we are just learning more and more all the time. hell i cant even find good info in most science documentaries that are over 10 years old because the fields are progressing so fast. that said if we knocked ourselves technologically backwards by say a mass war/nuke war or just recovering from a super volcano something that already taxed the human race to its max but just wasnt quite enough to get rid of us. then a second such event could likely wipe us out. IE nuclear winter followed 40 years later by a massive commit. earth already went through a phase where it was completely covered by ice so it could theoretically happen again. I do believe at this point it would take an extinction event unparalleled in earths documented history to wipe us out at this point. we have people in every habitat on land and we own each one. should it come down to it we would rape every last ounce of salvageable material to survive and do it from everywhere humans are which at this point is everywhere.

With the world going on the Rhino horn standard we will quickly realize that we are running out of Rhino horns, a huge war will ensue to gain control of the Rhino horn market. Congo trying to protect their vast Rhino horn wealth will purchase nuclear weapons from the Soviets in return for some horns. While trying to protect their reserves of Rhino they will start a war with South Africa driving the entire world into nuclear war.
