Federal government - protecting interstate commerce, money, military, foreign relations, healthcare (just too big now a days... costs us too much money to ignore), beating down the states that are trying to infringe upon citizen rights.

state/local government - police, fire, local issues.

Our history has shown that states like to become tyrants if they are not put in check... so while I think that states should be able to experiment to find solutions that work locally I also think there needs to be a central government composed of a larger group of people to avoid bias/prejudice.

Fixed for accuracy .. tyranny is not isolated to local governments, it is the end game for all governments local and federal/central

Source? I think you might be thinking of european forms of governane... in north america governance (what the u.s. is based on) there has never really been tyranny.

Which government? The federal government should strictly be for homeland security. The states shall than over rule the federal government on just about anything.

In my mind the state government shall maintain infrastructure, and nothing else. However it is the right of the states people to draft their own legislation.

This is close enough that it's not worth me trying to figure out how to word it differently.

I expect government to support our plutocracy of corporations.

Never anything more than that. If they actually do something for the benefit of the people, generally I'm shocked. But, usually it's a distraction from even greater benefits being given to our corporate overlords.

Ideology is not reality.
To make good policy, one must consider all ideologies and decide which best solves the reality of the situation. Ideology is afterall, JUST AN IDEA.
