Every 2012 LCD large screen TV will have cruddy sound. You just can't split 102 watts between the picture and the speakers and have a decent result. If they could have 150 watts, sure you could but they arent allowed.
Nope, I've seen plenty of other large screen LCDs with decent sound. Can you expect great sound? No. But many are decent.
So yeah I'm not going to blame the government because a private company made a sub-par product.

Have you tried connecting external speakers through the headphone jack? Usually the TV volume still has play there.

I haven't used the TV for sound in years. What do you expect from a speaker small enough to fit in a TV less than 4" thick?

I couldn't tell you how my TV sounds. I've never used the speakers.
I have a home theater, not just a TV.
