I haven't been terribly impressed with any LCD/Plasmas of this generation. My Philips has excellent HD picture quality, but the sound is awful. Music plays at a ridiculously high volume no matter the setting, while dialog of movies or TV shows is very soft and hard to hear. It also drives me nuts that my PS2 and other previous-gen systems look like crap on the TV as well.
I've been putting off buying a receiver and surround-sound until the house move, I'm guessing this'll fix the problem. It's still somewhat disheartening that they can't make a TV have proper sound quality built-in these days, though.

I have a 50" Panasonic Viera plasma. Excellent picture quality, but the speakers are SO WEAK. You have to turn it way up to hear anything.
Whats with high end TVs and crappy sound these days?
I also have a 42" LG LCD tv that cost half as much as the Panasonic, the picture quality is a lot worse but the speakers are so much better.

My vizio sounds and looks awesome for coming from such a "low end" market...
and I work with TVs/screens a lot!

samsung 54" here, picture is amazing, and sound isn't terrible...although I can't be a good judge of that, because it was only used for about 2 days.
Get surround sound ya nub.

Every 2012 LCD large screen TV will have cruddy sound. You just can't split 102 watts between the picture and the speakers and have a decent result. If they could have 150 watts, sure you could but they arent allowed.

I bought an Olevia LCD back in 2008 and have no complaints whatsoever about the sound quality. I have since bought a Samsung plasma for our basement and again, no complaints.
