I like so many there is no way to pick just one. If I had to pick, I might say Asimov's Foundation.

Elmador, what'd you think of Tigana?

My buddy says it's the best book he's ever read and wants me to read it.

I did not really enjoy The Fionavar Tapestry...so I'm hesitant...

And some in girls with ankles fine,
But my delight, yes, always mine,
Is to dance with Jak o' the Shadows.

I have Tigana on audiobook and have started it at least 10 times, but always have to end up restarting it again from the beginning.

audiobooks just aren't my thing I guess.

If i had to pick one, it would come down to two books:

The Neverending Story (best kids book EVER, hands down. I like to read it now and then just for the nostalgia factor)
The Redemption of Althalus by David Eddings

i find it depends very heavily on the reader. you can have a fairly bad book read by a great reader and its good. and a bad reader can ruin the most epic book.

Hard to narrow it down, but Dune is in my top 3.

The Stand, and Hitchhiker's Guide round it out.

This is unhelpful to my determining whether or not I should put my current book aside and dive in!
