I'm on my 2nd pair of red wings. My first pair was improperly sized due to my impatience. Had them for about two year and I walked through the sole. Instead of getting a new sole for $70 I bought a brand new pair that was the proper size and the burgundy color I wanted. Ran me $175 and another $40 for the orthotic insoles from Red Wings. Took a month to break them in and I've had them for two years. I'm going to send them out to get resoled and polished. When I went into the Red Wing store to talk to them about it, they took my boots and polished them for free, gave me a few pairs of laces and sent me on my way.
tl;dr Great customer service, boots last forever and getting them resoled is cheaper than buying new boots.

I hear that they are very comfy. My last pair of boots were Wolverines, and lasted me about 2 years, paid $79 for them.
I have a few pairs of Chippewa, one's 12 y/o and the other is 6 y/o (steel toe)
still comfortable and not ready to be replaced.
