Test was negligently performed, thereby changing what the couple would have done. In the long run, by keeping the fetus, due to the results of the negligently run test, they'll be paying quite a bit in child care.

This isn't an abortion issue, like the attorney stated, this is about a negligently handled medical procedure.

100% this.

Is there more info on this story? All you have is the attorney saying the test was botched and that they jury agreed.

Yeah lets just assume medical records aren't kept and that they indicted without evidence. drr
Just seems ridiculous to be some sort of conspiracy theorist for straightforward legal cases like this.

it says in every article that upon later review of test results it is obvious they screwed up.

Abortion rates

A 2002 literature review of elective abortion rates found that 91–93% of pregnancies in the United Kingdom and Europe with a diagnosis of Down syndrome were terminated.[56] Data from the National Down Syndrome Cytogenetic Register in the United Kingdom indicates that from 1989 to 2006 the proportion of women choosing to terminate a pregnancy following prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome has remained constant at around 92%.[57][58]

In the United States a number of studies have examined the abortion rate of fetuses with Down syndrome. Three studies estimated the termination rates at 95%, 98%, and 87% respectively.[56]

Wat?

Did you guys know this? i had NO idea the numbers would be that high. So what is the deal? Most people aren't getting tested??

people are getting tested as most insurance will pick it up. lets be real here, honestly who would want to bring a down syndrome kid into the world? especially if you have to chance to prevent it?

If I had a Down's child I'd just drop it off at B_T's since he wants them so badly apparently.

Heh, this again.

If you don't like the fallout from his antics, get him to stop. He's been consistent in his anti-women's rights on the abortion thing, and also his anti-social programs stance.

Wow, I would HATE to be your significant other. Apparently you believe that each other is property to be controlled. Maybe you could express some self control since you are so big on it.

I think it's more about you having the power to stop it at it's source. "Hey honey, when you poke the troll it mauls you... and I don't like it when trolls maul you... can you stop poking the troll please?"

You could also let him fight his own battles and ignore the troll

I kinda wonder if they're putting the kid up for adoption after winning this.
