Good.
There are presently folks lobbying to make it legal for Dr.s to withhold this kind of information from parents intentionally so as to lessen the chance of an abortion. The precedent of the story in the OP needs to be here as an example of why that sort of legislation must never EVER come to pass.
there is roughly 500,000 children in the care/custody of various foster agencies and group homes across the nation awaiting adoption,
and yet abortion is evil and bad.

Test was negligently performed, thereby changing what the couple would have done. In the long run, by keeping the fetus, due to the results of the negligently run test, they'll be paying quite a bit in child care.
This isn't an abortion issue, like the attorney stated, this is about a negligently handled medical procedure.
100% this.

Wow, I don't see how that would pass constitutional or ethical muster.

Wow, I don't see how that would pass constitutional or ethical muster.
It is frightening that there are people even backing it. Unreal.

Abortion rates
A 2002 literature review of elective abortion rates found that 91–93% of pregnancies in the United Kingdom and Europe with a diagnosis of Down syndrome were terminated.[56] Data from the National Down Syndrome Cytogenetic Register in the United Kingdom indicates that from 1989 to 2006 the proportion of women choosing to terminate a pregnancy following prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome has remained constant at around 92%.[57][58]
In the United States a number of studies have examined the abortion rate of fetuses with Down syndrome. Three studies estimated the termination rates at 95%, 98%, and 87% respectively.[56]
Wat?
Did you guys know this? i had NO idea the numbers would be that high. So what is the deal? Most people aren't getting tested??

It's the rate of people who know that it has that disability and decide to kill it.
People who are not going to kill it are less likely to get the test in the first place.

Is there more info on this story? All you have is the attorney saying the test was botched and that they jury agreed. These types of trials can typically be stacked with people who would be sympathetic to the family regardless of the facts of the case.
