I'm half japanese, born and raised in Hawaii. I knew how to use them to take laundry out of the washing machine by the time i was 3.

i can use the wooden ones very easily....and i can almost use the ridiculous skinny flat metal ones that most of you have never seen almost as easily

It is kind of like riding a bike. Takes a bit of practice but then all of a sudden it just clicks and it seems like you always knew how.

I can use them fine. The smooth stainless ones I bought had a learning curve all their own though as they are much harder to use than wooden ones but I figured them out.

Yeah we bought stainless steel ones awhile back too. I figured they'd be much easier to clean- pop em in the dishwasher! They are easier to clean, but those suckers certainly don't grip the food as well as normal wooden chopsticks, lol. Takes a whole different set of maneuvering to work with them- for me anyway. I'm probably doing it wrong
