I'm 28, I've never lived paycheck to paycheck. I stuffed our tax return in our house downpayment fund.

...maybe I'm actually 60 or something

You are living like you are. Have you checked your lawn this morning?

I spent every penny I could find on ale and whores until I was around 33 or something, then my wife got tired of cleaning up after me and had a little talk about me not getting any and I straightened right up and went to work.

No lawn yet (HOA landscapers take care of the vegetation at the condo). Stupid appraisal is still with the seller's underwriter. Short sales take forever, man.

Maybe he needs a vacation to get away from the stress and exhausting process of getting fired from so many jobs. It's hard work!

This thread begs the question: do the "women" of ACF use a funnel to get that much sand in their vagina or do they just slide around the beach like an angry Roomba? -deadcactus-

Our tax refund (about $13k) paid off our debt (dental bills) and paid for our vacation this year.

I've been in your cousins shoes before. It's hard to live paycheck to paycheck. We did it for awhile and we also spent our small refunds on frivolous things. It made us happy at the time to get that "break".

Pretty much my situation right now. Husband got $2k back from taxes, and it's all gone now (I'm talking within days) and it didn't go to paying his CCs, van repairs, paying me back money he owes me, putting money aside for first/last month's rent, or getting fillings in his teeth done...

I was smart separating our accounts back in January or my student loan would be all gone by now.

Becuase that $2500 over time is not going to buy as much as it used to? With savings interest rates at all time lows and the percentage rise in prices far outstripping any return you get from savings ... unless you buy something like gold or silver that will retain value ... we are coming close to the point where the best course of action is to spend the money you have while it still has some worth
