The way I see it is that there are a significant number of employers that do drug testing as part of their pre-employment screening and people receiving Unemployment Compensation are living off tax dollars paid by those companies as a cost of having employees. The least the people receiving those benefits could do is ensure that they won't be disqualified from taking a job because they can't pass a drug test.

I guess if we can't afford to pay jobless benefits, it comes down to a question of "who should be kicked off unemployment payments first?" Should it be drug abusers? Why not alcoholics? There are more of those. We could really save a lot of money.

Yep i think the cost offset would balance out if you were denied benefits due to a positive test. i have to test drug free for work they should have to be drug free to suckle at the go'bment teet.
