I've often felt that the country would be served well if it installed huge hinges on the part of florida where it attaches to the rest of the nation, then we could just randomly dunk the whole state under the ocean for a month or 2 and then raise it up and start fresh.

I've listened to the tapes, the kid is screaming for his life and still he is shot by a man who is twice his size, 125 lbs vs 250 lbs.

Why, well because he is black.

If I was black I'd be outside the police station that has jurisdictional authority over this case right now with a molotov cocktail in my hand, effing SOB's.

Sometimes justice can only be had when you demonstrate to the appropriate authorities that this type of thing will not be tolerated, and that includes VIOLENCE!

The dude would be in jail if Florida did not change its law because of the NRA. Pretty much every other state you have a legal duty to retreat before using lethal force... he did not do that.

I have no idea what is going to happen... it sounds like he followed the black kid around and then the black kid started beating the crap out of him (he had a bloody face and head wounds when the police showed up)... that is when he killed the kid.

Honestly it just sounds like an idiot with very poor judgment... he wanted to be the "gun-toting" hero of the community.

It is just pathetic when you have laws that justify behavior like this... honestly Florida and the NRA are partly to blame if he gets off...

edit: just look at the facts. He called 911 like 75 times in the last 3 months reporting the exact same crap. He was the self-appointed, legally sanctioned gun toting, neighborhood watch leader. His goal in life was to become a police officer and was studying for it.

He followed the kid and started a confrontation... the kid was justified to start beating the crap out of the lunatic... but the lunatic was also justified to use self-defense. That is the only thing the jury will see... before they would be able to say given the whole circumstances was he in a situation with no other option?!

The NRA is composed of lunatics like this one... who probably think they are the hero of the community "protecting" us. They have lobbied to give themselves legal justification looking for trouble... it is obvious when you hear them say things like "I dont want no one looking at things after the "heat of the moment"... they want to shoot first and ask questions later... no jury would convict anyone of any crime for protecting their right to be free from injury... this law was designed exactly for these fringe cases.

It is just sick when you have the law promoting this behavior... it really shows the value we put on human life.
