What I mean is, you should know this because you're a gun owner.
You pull that thing out, you're ready to use it.
At that point, if someone starts throwing snowballs, what is he going to do? Start shooting into a crowd?

The thing is the video doesn't start until he is out of the car with a radio and his gun out. Now if someone threw one snowball at his car and he jumped out guns blazing then yeah something is wrong. If on the other hand he got out of his car to confront the crowd and they continued to pelt him then he drew his gun that is another story.

wrong prospective.
detective driving down the road, sipping his coffee and all of a sudden his truck is hit with snowballs.
he stops gets out and is confronted by a large crowd of people.
he doesnt know the intent of the crowd.
I dont see a issue he pulled his gun to keep the crowd in check and called for back up.
if the detective wanted to be a dick he could have hauled a few of them in for assaulting a officer.
