If an employer is paying crap wage/does not care about individual people... the people should be able to unite to increase their bargaining power and demand better conditions or refuse to work.
If the union goes overboard and starts demanding more than the employees are worth than the employer should be free to use their bargaining power by hiring people who will work for less.
I am not sure why anyone would want to make the free association of people illegal... that violates the U.S. constitution.
those same free peoples can start their own god damn company.
Or they could just mooch off their parent's rentals

Where do you work, in China? Because in the United States minimum wage is higher than that. Jobs that are in even a slight demand command much higher than minimum wage. All the unions do is talk up how essential they are and clip your paycheck to pay the union bosses.
I'm a third party reimbursed by the state on behalf of my client. Minimum wage laws do not apply.

Unions were a good idea but they have not been a good idea for quite a long time now. It promotes laziness and a free ride.

Without reading the replies I will toss my thoughts out. It's a necessary evil. They are needed as a countermeasure to keep corporate conglomerates from taking advantage of people more than they do, but too many people take advantage of the protections unions offer instead of doing their job the way it should be done. If unions were banned the companies would become much worse than they are right now. I personally have never been in a union and don't want to be. Now I will read all the replies.

Pros and cons. Â They stopped the exploitation of labour which was sorly needed, but they go to far at times too.

Dont knock unions or even the threat of a union coming in until you work in a "free-will" state.
Especially a state like Oklahoma, where the only labor right laws are the federal laws that they have to abide by.
I understand now why unions where formed to begin with.
So yeah all those worker right laws that you take for granted in your state aren't the same from state to state or region to region.
Like here a employer can make you work a full shift without a break as long as they dont employ minors.
If they have one minor employed, then federal labor laws take effect.
