I keep hearing people say that unions need to become stronger, and they need to be involved in more areas.
what say you?

i'm currently in the AFGE, i was in a paperworkers union, and worst of all was a Teamsters division.
unions blow and have severely outlived their usefulness.
it was great in college setting up for trade shows making $27 an hour FOR 16 hours and getting paid for 50!

I think they've outlived their usefulness for the most part.
I guess for factory work and a few other things where you're still talking about collective bargaining for safety issues and hazard pay without fear of termination, it's useful, but otherwise I don't see why most of the unions are necessary.
It seems like now they're more of a political device than an employee rights organization, and I would prefer they stay out of it the same way I'd prefer corporate donors and lobbyists stay out of it.
