I am sure the baby that is licking the ground... playing with dog poop... has much more to worry about than germs from their mom.
My mom used to tell me that she did this to my food... minus the mouth to mouth transfer... that is a little weird.

As long as she doesn't swallow it then regurgitate it up to feed to the baby.

No I believe that counts as pre-masticated. Since she pre-masticates it before feeding it to her son, who also masticates it.
Pre-mastication, or what happens before mastication, is putting the whole food in your mouth. Chewing it is then the mastication, and feeding the masticated food straight into your kid's mouth (no real need for pre or post or anything) is just kind of gross.
People are in love with using "pre" in front of so many things that it's stupid. Like "pre-drilling a hole"... it's not pre-drilling, it's drilling a pilot hole. Pre-drilling is getting the bit ready and aiming it.

You guys are silly. She is just doing it to be funny/cute.
I have seen people do this with their dog(minus the chewing), and no one cares.
/yawn at what people get up in arms about these days

no probably because infants don't have molars and it is a lot more efficient to chew than to cut with fork and knife.
the whole mouth to mouth thing is quirky in these times, but certainly not unheard of.

So much stupidity in this thread.
Parents "chewing food and passing it to their kids" are the only way we humans have managed to evolve and survive over the last however many thousand years.
This is a common practice in many parts of the world today and was common in all parts of the world until bottled milk was invented.
Here is another thing some of you may find strange:
People actually used to poop in a little house outside their living quarters. Imagine that! People didn't have toilets and bathrooms. Some people STILL DON'T! Even in America!

I survived to the end and got nothing out of it, but hey.

Would be interesting to see a study looking at whether premastication leads to infants having more dental cavities...
Anyone, in the process of seeing if anyone had done the study I found fuel for the Sith sandwich fire. Maybe he ate the sandwich out of his coworkers mouth? We really didn't consider that. Maybe he should have been worried.

I've been around a lot of kids...and I've never heard of anyone doing this.
I might have to ask someone just to make sure I wasn't left out of the loop or something. Or maybe it's a west-coast thing, you western people are weird after all.
and lol @ "I
just had a delicious breakfast of miso soup, collards and radish
steamed and drizzled with flax oil, cast iron mochi with nori wrapped
outside, and some grated daikon". delicious breakfast? lol That sounds like the stuff that what I eat had for breakfast...or maybe what THAT ate for breakfast.

Ok sure.
My point was that its not a big deal and people are being ridiculous.
