Definition of a veteran. |
A veteran of combat is the only kind of veteran I think about. I don't care if you're a veteran war journalist, or a veteran medic, or a veteran navigator or something.
veteran killers are the only kinds of veterans that matter

I always think of a veteran as someone who actually did something in a conflict that put their life or health at risk.
I served proudly in the U. S. Navy for 8 years. I did not see major conflict so that means I did not serve? People who make that argument disgust me and chances are they didn't try serving. I served my country for the length of time I chose to, I'm sorry if we were not at war with anyone while I served, I am however a veteran. Weather you acknowledge it or not. i signed that blank check and was prepared to die for you and everyone else in this country if I needed to.

You're not a veteran of combat. You're a veteran of something, but that something is not combat.

There is no distinction, either you are a veteran or you're not. I am a veteran of the United States Navy plain and simple, just like those in the Middle East will be when their time is done.
