long commutes suck, they are only marginally better if you are actually driving instead of sitting in gridlock.

I can see my work from my apartment. If it takes more than 30 minutes to get to work I'll start leaving earlier... 1 hour commute or more and I'd quit or move. Eff that.

45-50 minutes for me most days
2nd shift is fine here (DC area) but they'd have to throw lots of money at me to get me to go to 1st shift where my drive home varied from 1.5-3 hours
for you locals, i drive from Centreville, VA to Germantown, MD so 66-495-270

Depends. I'm much more likely to get angry about a long commute that is caused by people being retarded when merging or rubbernecking as opposed to a long commute caused by an accident on my side of the freeway. An exception would be an accident caused by severe incompetence, like when I was stuck in traffic for four hours because someone very obviously wasn't paying attention and wrecked her car by hitting something stationary. I gave that bitches corpse the finger.

i had a base 1hr drive to school which could take up to 2 hrs. sucked. now i have a 1hr drive still but there's no traffic and that's all it takes

For a couple of years I had a commute that ranged from 40 min on a good day to 2 hours on a bad day...each way. That really sucked.
Now I take the subway to work. It still takes me around 40 min to get to work, but I'm on my iPhone the whole time, so I don't care so much.
Though this morning it took me two hours because there was a fire in a subway tunnel and I had to wait for an hour at JFK. I was going to take a shuttle bus, but there weren't any, and then they resumed subway service, so I just got back on the train and came in. At least it's a pleasant day, weather-wise.

I'm still about an 60 or 70 minutes most days to get to work.. Getting home usually just under an hour.
I knocked an hour minimum off both ways when I moved from NH.. but it's still not all that great of a commute. Next job is not going to be in the city.

Currently 10 minutes one way. Will go back to 25 once the house is finished in the summer. Over 30 mins would start to get annoying.
