I have done it before, and in an area that was not ATV-accessible. If you've got an ATV, you can probably drag or carry anything you need. You should be able to take a couple bags of quickrete up to create a natural cistern for the spring, along with a drain (screened to filter out crap) and even a large heavy plastic holding tank. You'll need some flexible but thick piping, some heavy valves in places so you can cut off supply to the holding tank, and possibly some lumber to create a lid for the concrete cistern. You can also bring up some flat heavy styrofoam boards to create an easy level surface for your holding tank.
Other things you might need are zipties, a shovel, pipe-cutters, and rubber cement.
What did you start with? The thing about the land is it's thick pain in the butt brush. As you get closer to the spring and the land I want to set up camp in, it just gets worse because the water makes it all that much more thick. Any serious amount of sand or lime is a deal killer until I can clear out some paths with a chainsaw. It really is that bad.
As far as I've heard, some jerk logging company illegally logged the crap out of the whole area 20-30 years ago, so it filled in real nicely and really thick with viny brush. I'd sue to the person in charge, but I'm pretty sure he's dead, and he left the liability on himself which sucks.
