I forgot to mention this. I was sick of the portal noise so I edited the portal.ogg file to be nothing but silence. I figured that was the best way because the game still plays it thinking nothing is wrong. If I can figure out how to adjust the output volume I will make a quiet version. I'll gladly share the file if someone can point me to a free host. Or I can email it.

Edit: Thanks for hosting that Steel.

We can just knock the portal blocks out of them... they work without them. Might end up having to do that if I ever get around to turning the nether on since it uses the same portals and they end up conflicting.

I have also saved misa's old texture pack and the old mcpatcher to make them work. I've put them into one zip file available here:

http://www.gregcomstock.com/storage/minecraftv12.zip

just extract the file wherever

run mcpatcher

select misa172.zip for the textures, it should auto detect 64x64. patch away!

OK my new upload has Misa's installed on it so you should be good to go if you follow the directions provided.

After all this time, and money earned, you would think they would've sorted out their server issues...

I figured it out, I extracted the minecraft.exe file into the MC folder too. Guess that makes it not work so I extracted that to a separate location this time.

But I like the purple! Anyhow the file is here if DNS has propagated. http://arazu.net/minecraft/portal.ogg just replace the file in .minecraft/resources/newsound/portal. I set mine to read only just in case. P.S. I know that is a Linux path but I'm sure you can find it.

No kidding. Amazon's ELB is messing up again? Right... I'm not buying that for a dollar.

No offense to Notch but I think the people at Amazon have a better idea of how it works than he does.

I also want to mention that it doesn't take weeks to get a server going. If you throw enough money (which he seems to have) at the right people one could have this solved in a day.

The key to staying back a few updates is the version file. The current one is available here: http://arazu.net/minecraft/version

I tried the update Steel posted but it constantly tried to update. Substituting the new version file solved that.
