Here’s the development snapshot of week 8, 2012! We’ve been a little bit busy with the LEGO trip and Mojam, so the list of changes is a bit shorter than usual:
Added a defense mob to villages
Added up-side-down stairs
Many changes to the world and lighting system

Have you tried altering your DNS server?
Switching to Google or Open DNS might route around...
Just ran a test from Alberta and its failing inside the cox network...

Guys, I can’t get connected to the server. I have followed the directions saying to rename .minecraft and download the snapshot and replace the files in the bin folder with it but it still tells me my client is outdated. Don’t know what to do with minecraft.jar file..someone wrote to replace it with "(client.)' whatever that means...Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Find the minecraft.jar file in your bin folder. ( %APPDATA%/.minecraft/bin )
replace it with the snapshot version of minecraft.jar
