Pretty much what I was thinking. Don't see anything major and I've been taking the opportunity to get some other work done and play a little CivV. I know as soon as the real update drops and a new map goes up I'll be spending quite a lot of time finding a new home and getting settled in.

16 hours of Civ V played now. (Though probably at least two of those were afk.)

Yeah I am scooping up achievements now, lol. I like them for games like this as they make me play the game in ways I wouldn't normally.

I like the hex board and the units not stacking. Those two make it a lot more tactical instead of just "make monster stacks and smoke stuff". Some of the other stuff I could've done without but I do think overall CivV was a nice change, for me anyway.

Steam News posted:

17:48Message from Gabe to Steam Community
Announcement - Valve
Yesterday, on November 10, 2011, the following message was sent to all users via a Steam message.

Dear Steam Users and Steam Forum Users:

Our Steam forums were defaced on the evening of Sunday, November 6. We began investigating and found that the intrusion goes beyond the Steam forums.

We learned that intruders obtained access to a Steam database in addition to the forums. This database contained information including user names, hashed and salted passwords, game purchases, email addresses, billing addresses and encrypted credit card information. We do not have evidence that encrypted credit card numbers or personally identifying information were taken by the intruders, or that the protection on credit card numbers or passwords was cracked. We are still investigating.

We don't have evidence of credit card misuse at this time. Nonetheless you should watch your credit card activity and statements closely.

While we only know of a few forum accounts that have been compromised, all forum users will be required to change their passwords the next time they login. If you have used your Steam forum password on other accounts you should change those passwords as well.

We do not know of any compromised Steam accounts, so we are not planning to force a change of Steam account passwords (which are separate from forum passwords). However, it wouldn't be a bad idea to change that as well, especially if it is the same as your Steam forum account password.

We will reopen the forums as soon as we can.

I am truly sorry this happened, and I apologize for the inconvenience.

Gabe.

Am i the only one who failed to see this? They didn't send me an email notification either, just tried to slid it under the rug. sad part is eve online's news headlines told me about it.

There was a news/update message when you open steam but I think those can be disabled. Don't remember getting an email but I already knew about it so wasn't paying much attention.

It was posted on ACF, that's how I knew. But I just shut down to clean the dust out and when I restarted Steam I got the message.

I also saw it on the pc tech board.

I'm building a double caves spider exp farm on my sp game. Have two spawners about 8 blocks apart and at the same level. Got the collection set up, now need to work out a reliable wounding mechanism. I'll probably try to copy what Docm did for his.

The xp farm I made for zombies drps them 23(I think that was the magaic number) blocks, so u can love tap each to death. Prolly could do the same thing for spiders? Althought that would be a bitch to make a water ladder that long since spiders are bigger....
