I had a similar idea earlier. I built a creeper box... I think I'm going to expand it into an actual creeper... then have a doorbell that blows it up

The old mines have a ton of loot in them.
I found one east of my house and built a road then a railway to it.
Been working for days and its yielding a ton of cobble/wood/iron and even some gold and 11 diamonds 3 cocoa.
I think it is 3 old school mines with a couple ravines cus the thing is ENDLESS.
It is in the heart of 5 mountains and is so large I got lost for an hour in there.
The road out there took over 2000 cobble blocks to build

Omg Steel you are my hero! That map is awesome! I thought I was on the furthest point out, apparently I'm on the inner corner of the new land. No longer so lost 
Edit: hahaha ok who wrote S.O.S in the sand in the north west corner of the old continent?

It should be much bigger. Turn on beds and players (icons in the bottom corner) then zoom all the way out and look up top. The map fades out before it gets to them due to a hard coded limit in the mapper... same base code c10t, our old mapper, uses. There is a whole continent where the Aussies have been building. If I can get that limit removed we can get the whole map going. This is a solid start though.

when I built the towers I had the same problem, I couldn't stand digging up the mountains underneath to make the towers.
But then when I found the abandoned mine, in exploring it, and digging in it, I eventually had an excess of cobble.
the trick for me is not to at first build, but instead just dig for a purpose other than building (Ie looking for iron, or gold or diamond.) so that by the time I find it, I've accumulated enough cobble to do whatever else I want.
On a separate note, are YOU zoidberg?
