You know when someone says "I'm going to make towers to protect my harbor" I always expect a couple small towers... I should know better by now.

those be my towers!

the lighthouse on the island nearby is taller.

I need to turn that lighthouse into a castle, but for now I'm working on making the inside of the bay into a harbor town.

the towers are why I ran out of cobblestone and used up all the cobble that sneezy brought me

what makes me mad is I can't see the lighthouse from the towers, and vice versa, but go out Ten squares and I can see both!

Those are good places for view signs.

Oh and I have only special signs showing up since there are so many signs on the map. For info on how to place signs and views that will show up on the map look here.

Isometric map is really fun to explore.

Would love to build nice roads all over to allow people to walk around and see people's projects and natural wonders.

Built the 700 unit long road out to the Mine of Infinite Doom and then last night I added a track on the road for faster travel.

OK almost 5 hours to update and that was covering the two days it took to run the first time. I'm thinking running it twice a day would work out fine. It has little impact on the server itself and doesn't down the map while it is running so it shouldn't hurt to have it grinding away in the background.

Where do you guys get all these materials to build stuff, some of those are thousands of blocks a piece... I get bored digging for like 30 minutes, which isn't enough to make even one of those things...

For me it is digging with a purpose. Either line mining at bed rock for diamonds and gold or building stuff underground that requires space. From there I use what I generated to build stuff above ground or I use renewable resources like wood so I can stay above ground. Rarely do I dig because I have to unless it is for sand (glass/sandstone) or, a new one, for nether brick. A good example is I am carving my tower/stair/whatever thing out of the mountain next to me which is netting me plenty of cobble and some other resources. I turn the wood in my birch farm into coal and use the coal to fire the cobble back into stone.

Unfortunately the map renderer doesn't understand 1.9 blocks yet so my nether brick and nether brick gates don't show up.
