can't play no matter what I do. I have no option to stop the update. Reinstalled, downloaded new client etc still wont let me. So freaking retarded.

Did you try the second link? https://www.minecraft.net/download/Minecraft.exe
If you're getting no option to avoid the update you're getting the old launcher. (Or still using it even after getting the new one.)

Has to still be using it. Tried both links, and a client from Aezure still does the same thing. I deleted everything I could find of it still no go.
