With all the changes you're going to see mages that will be the main CC class now IMO.

Frost mages are nearly indestructible. I HATE coming across them in the BG's, they shield themselves and just go to town on people's asses with that irritating pet shooting away.
Warlocks kill sooo quickly.
But gear is needed to make them work. Without good gear you have nothing.

I had a 2-button rotation. My DPS increased when I switched to a 1-button rotation. Once my arcane blast keybound button wore out I shelved him and played another class. Less DPS now but more fun

Oh? Come Cataclysm, who will be FotM?
Right now, as someone mentioned, they top the DPS charts.
Edit: I'll guess you're thinking rogues. But even so, to be completely fair, no one truly knows who will top the DPS charts until we reach the level cap with all the additional gear, talents, and the like.

I know all the FP's, Zep and Boat routes so portals isn't a big deal to me. Being able to summon me right where you want me though, that is pretty cool. My SP and Ele Shammy appreciate the Int buff and water so that is in the Mages favor. The nice thing about Locks is, just as with my SP, even when we are in a running battle with a boss we are still doing nice dps as our DOT's tick away. In the end though, I'll take either as long as they know their class.

Roll a gnomish lock!
I rotate between my affliction lock and feral druid depending on how I feel. I believe locks also have some more reliable CC now if you glyph for it. I've never played demo, but destruction can be fun if you have decent gear.
Dot drive-bys never get old either. You'd be surprised how many players (and their friends) don't know were their decurse button is.
