This falls in the same category as your prediction that Cata was the last expansion.
I am not sure I would bet on that, I am thinking their corporate share holders are seeing big $$$ in the console market.

Ah, sorry - missed that "MMO" part. Still waiting on the break-thru game in that category (MMO/console).
Edit:
All they have to do is take this: 2.Mario Kart Wii (24.01 million)[67], add unlimited multiplayer and the ability to kill your opponent drivers in varied and gruesome ways and they have it!!

If so then you have to figure WoW will get consoled soon perhaps by even the next expansion because that is where the biggest growth in gaming is. It seems to be the direction they are headed too, there is obvious dumbing down of the game, talents points are virtually obsolete already, everyone ends up in the same armors, with same builds etc... it is like they are prepping for the move.
I didn't realize console MMOs were so popular. Perhaps you would like to share with us some of the best selling titles so those of unfamiliar with them can check them out.
None like WoW yet, however when they finally settle on a cross platform Internet gaming solution where XBOX, PS3 and the WII, (likely the next generations of those systems) can all play on the same servers much like Windows and Mac players can do with WoW now, there will be.

So you see consoles going cross platform in the next 1-2 years and WoW being ready to port during that time?
If they do manage to create a cross platform where all console systems can play on the same servers why would they leave PC/Mac out of it?

That 1.5 year expansion cycle seems a bit ambitious.
I think that's why they made such sweeping changes to the game for Cata. THIS version of the game is MUCH easier to build upon. In fact, a blue somewhere said something to that effect -- that they made such drastic changes for this very reason. Don't ask me to find it, it was like 6 months ago. ^_^

They probably wouldn't unless to make it more difficult to hack and or steal accounts.

The latest changes were done specifically so blizzard could recycle with as little revenue invested as possible.
They will easily milk this cash cow for another 10 years without producing anything that is actually new, and WoW still has a period of growth left before its inevitable decline.
Like UO, the game will go into recycle/maintenance mode with much fewer staff and overhead, all while raking in the subscription money.
They don't have to offer anything new, they just have to re-skin it every 18 months to 2 years like they are doing now.
Pure business genius.

And everybody will complain about the new team and reminiscence about how good the B team was.
