When you get to this quest in Mount Hyjal you really see how many a$$holes there is in the game...
and the constant standing with mounts ontop of the quest npc's, are people this friggin cluless slash retards? aarrgh!

If a mounted player is on top of something (mailbox, npc), just zoom to first person, and you will see right through them.

Or you can bind your "interact with" keybinding to something useful and then just /target <npc name> and hit the keybinding.

Furthermore you can display the name plates of the npc's by shitting shift+v? cntrl+v? One of those, and select the target by clicking his name plate.

The firstperson trick do not quite work as smooth as you think. Not when everyone is hellbent to stand on the same spot.

Not when there's literally a hundred people in a small area. Three are too many name plates on the screen that they start moving around like crazy. GL clicking on it.
Key Binding "interact with target" and using /target name works the best.
