Hey, what about those of us that aren't truly masters of WoW in that we don't have a mousewheel?

I've got a Logitech marble mouse -- the one that has two big buttons on the sides with a large red trackball/marble at the front middle. I've had it for years. Wife has the exact same thing on her computer -- it's what we're both used to using. What's the answer for someone like me? Go out and buy a different, programmable mouse? Learn to scroll? Quit WoW because I can't, or won't, change my preferred method of navigation? On Dec. 7th, I actually had to do the "target interact" command because there must have been over 500 people standing on the flight license NPC in Stormwind. Funny thing is, right after I purchased mine, I quickly left and didn't stand there like an asshat clogging up the place.

Bottom line is it's still incredibly rude to be standing at or on an NPC while still mounted on your huge mammoth or drake, and all but blocking access to the NPC. Yes, there are workarounds, but common courtesy far outweighs having to click, press, or scroll through a series of commands just to turn in a quest.

The fact that you use inferior equipment to play WoW doesn't excuse you for being a bad player. If not having a mouse wheel prevents you from clicking on these NPC's then you sir are not a 'master' of WoW. Furthermore mouse wheel was only one of the solutions given.

You can keybind zoom to whatever you want,

Mousewheel is the default.

And while I have never stated that camping on top of an NPC is NOT rude, (although I will state that it is just part of playing the game, especially the 1st week of an expansion) the point of this is that there are so many ways to get around this issue, if people would just use their heads for something besides a hat-rack.

You honestly had to come ask, "what if i don't have a mousewheel?" You honestly don't know that you can keybind zoom to anything you want? Seriously? Have you ever even opened the keybinding menu?

It makes me genuinely LAUGH that so many people have played this game for so long, yet they cannot use a keybind.


Don't stand in the fire? Forget that..these people can't even target an NPC...

Seriously, ignore them and move on. Trying to insert logic or reason into their path is going to make you dislike VN a lot.


Instead, try selective reading.


It's a sad thing, but there are handful of posters I completely ignore now. Since doing this, the boards became much more enjoyable.


Boone was spot-on with his earlier comments, in another thread, about our local trolls.


We can debate about it being 'anti-troll' or good manners in general, but that's not the point of the thread.


With that said, you can remove other player names to help target the NPC. Granted, it doesn't help when there's a huge, winged beast over the NPC, but people are people.


Finally, to the OP, I'm sorry you got treated so poorly on these boards. But, since you are a moderator . . . you have better options than we do.


And we'd love to see you use them.
