The simplest solution would for people to stop being inconsiderate jerks (dismounting and other things). But hey that isn't happening anytime soon.

With the range being small enough, players wouldn't be dismounted unless they intended to approach that NPC.

Zoom (mousewheeel for most)

Nameplates (Shift v)

"Target Nearest Friend" (ctrl tab is default i believe)


All 3 of these are 100% viable solutions...not matter what anyone else is doing ingame.

Of course, some people would just rather whine, than figure things out. Some people would rather cry about someone elses actions, than learn how to simply nullify those same actions...an exercise that only requires one to open the keybindings tab, and actually read it.

Some people just like to vent occasionally about things that annoy them. Others like to talk down to people, insult their intelligence, and then try to excuse their rudeness by accusing them of not being able to handle the truth.

You are repeating yourself now. We already established there are workarounds. But why even bother with any of them? Why do players need to be mounted and standing ontop of a quest NPC? None really? I see no harm dismounting players that stand ontop of quest NPCs if we keep the radius small enough.





It isn't whining or crying. It's asking why things are the way they are and thinking of better ways to do them. You'd be picking your nose in a cave somewhere if people didn't ask themselves why things are the way they are and how to make them better.

I always dismount several "yards" back and walk up. Ditto with banks, mailboxes, etcetera. I really appreciate Blizz auto-dismounting people inside (business) buildings. (EQ2 did not and there were always griefers on their mounts parked on top of the NPCs both at the bank and the AH.)


In cases where somebody IS obscuring the NPC, they usually fail to notice that they can't totally cover the NPC, I target the feet or base of the mailbox. In case of multiple non-thinking/self-centered players, I use /target. If it's SO dang crowded that neither work, I really don't want to be there at that moment anyway. I head my toon out, or get up IRL to stretch/get some water.


And yes, it's incredibly annoying.

While you were picking your nose in the cave, I utilized 5 year old tools to get from A to B, invented the wheel, and started what would later become the industrial revolution.

They asked me who the guy was picking his nose in the cave...and I told them not to worry, you were wondering why the thing in your nose was the way it was...and how to make it "better".

So yah, sit there all frustrated at your NPC, wondering how to make it better, while the people with 65+ IQ's used the given targeting tools, got what they needed, and left 5 minutes ago.
