^^ this. The bar has been set so low, a game only has to be halfway decent to ensure a measure of success (LotRO comes to mind).

That said, so many MMOs over the last three years failed so hard and it appears developers want them to fail.
It's strange.
Warhammer's Mark Jacobs is quoted on his statements about Age of Conan's missteps, yet he turned right around and repeated them . . . hard.
It was like watching The Twilight Zone or something.
Star Trek Online and A.P.B. continued the trend of releasing a half-done product with no endgame in sight.
Seriously, if any of the previous MMOs over the last three years were even remotely successful, Blizzard wouldn't be making these record sales.
But, honestly, there's nothing else to play worth the time.
Sad state, but Dark Age of Camelot and World of Warcraft stayed and stay king of the hill because there was or is no competition.
As far as Star War MMO being a successful MMO?
I recall more than a few reviewers and players gushing over Warhammer Online too.
I'll believe it when I see it.
God help them if they release their game the same time Diablo III comes out.
