More specifically, in which zones can you NOT have friends pop by and join you, because you are on different quest lines.

DK start, Worgen start, two new level 80 zones I think. Is Westfall fully phased or just reall linear with npc's moving? Lakeshire looks like it might be?

Any other ones? Or too numerous to mention? :o

Oh mostly interested in alliance but curious about Horde as well. Aun started a topic on this, have to say, my friend and I aren't big fans and it's been frustrating at times. But I'm assuming there are plenty of non-phased zones to choose from, or should I not assume?

Too many to mention really. All the new areas have some phasing, but it's hard to say how widespread it reaches. A phased area could be as small as a little hut or as large as the entire area.

What is kinda cool is that because we level so fast now, we are able to pop over to another area to level with a friend if we don't happen to be at the same place in the current area. There are at least 3 paths of progression from 1-60.

run 2 accounts.

as you drag the 2nd around you will notice all the 'phased' zones by the number of times he drops auto-follow.

even if theyre in sync, they'll still indicate all the phase points. (its really really annoying)

I just hope they find a way to "eliminate" phasing around summoning stones...

Was a PITA summoning people to ICC when you couldn't see the majority of your group, because you did all the quests, and they didn't...

Yes. Well it's not all bad, I have mixed feelings on it. The quests and stories are interesting so far, and technology wise it's cool, but it's a departure from what made the game great and (still) different - the wide open world not blocked by constant loading.

Re the above and auto follow, if you are grouped you can get a little blue circle that tells you they are out of phase.

Re the summoning stones - holy carp - I wonder if that was an oversight?

We were going between 2 and 4 boxing... and it was painful because of the phasing every 10 feet even though we were all on the same quests. As soon as you hit a phased area.... detached.

I, on the other hand, prefer a command-line system 'cause i'm so hardcore
/north /north *You encounter an [Avatar of the god Set]!*
/cast sheild *sheild spell unavailable*
/csat shield *csat: unknown command*
*[Avatar of Set] beheads [Peasant]*

I've noticed some phasing in lower level zones while leveling some alts. For instance, in Felwood, there's an area where you have to kill some gobling shredders (those mech things), and then afterwards you have to go in a cave and blow up an engine. When you come back out, there's oil spurting everywhere, along with goblins running around, and a quest for that too, but the shredders were no longer there.

In Western Plaguelands, I noticed some areas didn't have mobs until I completed a quest, then they showed up behind me (was part of the quest). And in Andorhal, sometimes I noticed alliance fighting undead, then later no fighting, then later quest had alliance fighting horde. I didn't go back after finishing it though, because I was questing with my brother and he wanted to go to eastern plaguelands.

So yeah, there's phasing in the old lands, but it's usually restricted to certain areas of the zone, not the entirety of it.

While I appreciate what they can do for the personal storyline and the illusion of affecting the world... phasing is really starting to irritate me.

Especially when I fly into an area, and I can see mobs or features of the old phase disappear and the new stuff pop in its place. Talk about smashing the 4th wall with a sledgehammer. I'd rather have just a static world than one that is so blatantly a facade.
