No one knows what end game is at the level cap is only level 20. And I agree Mithan. I started to laugh actually because it tried to sound so serious and ended up not being so serious. Its the classic you are the hero, you are the only one, you can do anything! type deal

There is a Rift End Game podcast here:

http://www.riftpodcast.com/blog/2010/12/16/a-visit-to-trion-the-endgame-the-people-and-the-experience.html

From what I have read, there will be:

2 Raids

Several dungeons (including heroic modes)

PVP

Some rep grinding type stuff like WoW but I could be wrong on that last.

Rift Raids.Â

Quote:

There will be two raid instances at launch, and multiple Raid Rifts. I’ve seen them. Now, I am under NDA, so there is only so much I’m permitted to say about what I saw. I can, however, say that I saw both the smaller and the large (read massively huge) Raid Instance zones. The bosses I saw in action looked to be quite complex, and definitely not a tank and spank operation. There’s going to be a lot of coordination required by raid forces to defeat some of these. These instances made me fangirl squee, I have to admit it. Hey – everyone has their vices! Just seeing mostly and almost completed Raid content awaiting tweaks and polish was enough to give me a sigh of relief. And then there were the Raid Rifts.

Now, I know there’s been a bit of flack given to the team about the rifts experienced in beta 1. The Raid Rifts I saw were magnificent, difficult, damn impressive – and undergoing some final tweaks before they get released onto the testing servers. I saw two 95% complete ones. A life rift and a fire rift. Both of these require coordination from raid members. These are not tank and spanks, these are encounters that will require different actions from multiple players in order to achieve a cleared stage. The first stage of that fire rift blew me away and made me think it’s going to take a fair bit of trial and error before a 20 man Raid squad can kill it. Granted, being a raid rift, you can bring 40 people if you like – but where’s the fun in that

If the two raid rifts are anything to go by, and I do believe they are, I can’t wait to see what they do with the mechanic in the future. Seeing the EndGame, actual, playable Endgame went a long way to alleviating concerns about the longevity of RIFT.

I survived to the end and got nothing out of it, but hey.

What's with the obsession with making every raid an elaborate dance routine with gimmicks coming out the wazoo?

Hey I get that some people want to be challenged as a player for their skill at "move here, don't stand in the fire there". But there is something to be said for encounters that are simply a challenge to the character instead of the player. It feels GOOD when you get your character to the point where he or she is succeeding because of your previous efforts to improve him or her.

Tank and spank is NOT a bad thing.

Thanks, but it's been fun
Five more minutes then I'm done!
I've been saying that to myself since
...yesterday.

That is a lot of gum flapping just to avoid discussing the state of WAR. You know, the game we figured would flop that you so avidly defended? So, how are things over there these days? Just curious.

One thing I forgot to add:

I HATE the voice for the Guardian guy (in the movies and in some of the beggining area quests).

It sounds like some guy was taking a s*** at the same time he was recording the voice.

They should change this. Its annoying.

that was a placeholder voice, the Guardian Intro voice is being done by Randy "Macho Man" Savage, eeeeeeeewwwwwwwwww yaaaaaaaaaaa

I'm curious how players feel, especially raiders, but scripted (repeat) encounters seem very anti-MMORPG to me. I'm with you there.

Re Aion, I think people predicted it would be better than Warhammer, which it is. Or at least more players voting with their wallets say it is.

Ok, so I read a lot on the rift boards this morning.

More questions:

I take it your character can be multiple classes WITHIN the archtype (warrior, or cleric, or rogue etc.) but you cannot cross over archtypes correct? Like I cannot combo a Champion and say, Ranger.

But I could be a Champion/Paladin/Reaver if I wanted, since they are all warrior archtypes?

Ooh you can combine three classes? For some reason I assumed it was two.

The archetype thing does make sense for balance reasons but I hope that's not the case.

You first pick warrior, mage, cleric, or rogue.

Then you can pick three out of the eight available souls for that archtype. Not all 8 are available yet, and that number may change. You get 4 "roles" (aka dual specs) that allow you to change your spec, bars, etc. on the fly. So I had a tank role with a little dps thrown in, and a dps roll with a little tanking thrown in, and I had an assassin with a little bard action going on, but level 20. It was pretty neat!

You can't cross archtypes as of now, they they are toying with the idea in some sort of dimished capacity.

It is worth saying that Aion was a successful game for me. I enjoyed the 5 months I played very much. What I didn't enjoy was the endgame, but that is okay. It's kinda sad to see it failing now, and I believe it is due to the endgame.

War on the other hand was not as much fun. I played the beta, PvPed a bunch on really unbalanced terms, and then quit. War is f2p now, isn't it? That should pretty much explain its current state.

RIFT I believe will be more like Aion was for me. I will have fun, it will be awesome for a while, but eventually I will get to the endgame and end up doing the same-ol same-ol, so I will quit. I'm ready to be proven wrong though!!
