Over the years i've been in several guilds. All of these guilds have had women players. The guild I'm in now is probably 20% female. But yet.. not a single one of them tank instances.

I don't think I've ever known of a female that does tank instances. I'm sure that it happens but it seems rare to me. The question is why is this the case?

Do they want to but aren't allowed?

Do they just don't want that direct level of responsibility/control?

Are they pressured into other roles? eg healer?

Kind of curious as to opinions.

They are smarter than men and don't need the aggravation? . It's a good question. Now that I think about it, I have seen very few female tanks.

All the people in my guild play the role they want to play. We have some male tanks and some female. /shrug

I personally play tank but I don't like to if I don't have to. I like being free to keep an eye on other things going on in any given fight. I feel more free to have that perspective and be able to do something about it as a DPS or healer. I feel like a better raid leader that can think on her feet when I'm not tanking.

I rolled with a female tank for a while. It was a breath of fresh air. All the competency and none of the awkward male nerd elitism. Unfortunately she quit the very second her then boyfriend stopped playing. She was a damned good tank too.

I hooked up with her in DC later, but it was weird. I'll leave it at that. She still works for the same game developer.

Have a female tank in my guild. She's pretty good, too.

Tanking requires concentration. That is all I will say...

I have seen a few female tanks, none that were really standouts. That's probably more a factor of the low number of them that I've seen than any sort of predisposition to being a good tank because one is male or female.

Everyone playing WoW knows everything about playing two classes: 1) their own and 2) Hunters

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I've run with hundreds of female tanks.

Though I guess it was weird that all of them were belfs and talked like dudes.

Hmmm.

women seem to trend toward healers for some reason, at least in my experience.
