Dammit Arc, I got the point. I am just saying the point is moot. He is attempting to prove accounts with out an authenticator are more vulnerable?

I think next he should prove the chance of getting wet in the rain with out an umbrella.

Of course there is some people who work for blizzard that have stolen or sold accounts. Do you know how many employees they have?

I wouldn't say that all the accounts are stolen by blizzard employees but I'm pretty sure a good number of them are.

You don't need proof for this every company on that planet has some one some where stealing something.

I believe he was trying to prove/disprove that accounts that are inactive without authenticators are more vulnerable.

I'll throw in my support behind Aliester to be a guy who knows what he's doing. I've known him for a long time.

Same thing happened to me, sort of. A week or so ago my account got hacked, i had not been playing on it since august 2010. Of course it was a trojan but how i got it is the mystery. Whatever it was it left no trace. They did not change the password. They basically logged on most characters and sold all the gear that had a worth. However they left heirlooms and gear that wasnt worth anything on the characters, they deleted nothing. Blizzard removed the last account access point which was weird. I could not see when the account was activated and how. It only showed my last activation which was back in august. Sadly they removed the paid time as well so i couldnt play that "paid" month for free, would have been nice... Either the "hack" itself was undetected by comodo firewall/av or it deleted itself when it got what it wanted. No clue really. Quite fun tho, because i dont really care that much for WoW to begin with. Only took a day for blizzard to remove the ban.

Aleister, new computers frequently come with a lot of preloaded applications (crapware) these days. Is it possible the crapware itself on the laptop was pre compromised to include a keylogger? (To be honest, I think your conclusion is correct. This points to an individual in a position of trust at Blizzard, one of its subcontractors, or one of its vendors.)

Aleister actually intended to use the account to show that an inactive account without an authenticator will remain safe to disprove the assumption that employees at Blizzard are utilizing inactive accounts as 'slave accounts'. It backfired on him, the purity of his almost virgin laptop just makes my theory about inside work all that more evident.

Is this a case of facts proving a positive? Not at all. Is it a case of evidence showing a hypothesis as plausible? Absolutely.

EDIT: I was agreeing with you Rill, just in a long worded way

I would like to add that my account is from release. No authenticator. Account has been dormant for over a year two or three times. I usually play for 2-3 months, then go away for 6-18 months. I have not been hacked yet. I also use FireFox + NoScript + NoAds, and I only login to account admin using my own bookmarked links.
