Noscript is a bit of a PITA, but have your WoW account hacked once and you'll learn to live with it. Firefox and Adblock are must have, no brainers.

This. Korrigan lives in a world where everyone else out there surely has to be stupid if they don't know of such basic things. Only enerds know about this type of thing. Hell my wife is an avid PC user and when i installed noscript + adblock one day she started complaining about alot of her pages and videos being messed up. She's since learned how to use it but the majority of the population doesn't know what an 'add-on' is much less noscript/adblock.

This, sort of. I use Firefox and Adblock at home (don't use noscript yet, not familiar with it), but I can't use these at work. I got the virus at work while I was reading these boards. I was a little surprised, since I've never gotten a virus reading VN before. I considered it safe... nonetheless, it still sucked. Had to restart into safe mode since the virus blocked all other programs from starting up including task manager. Once in safe mode, malwarebyte's anti-malware cleaned it right out though, just FYI.

I honestly don't know people get into that crap.

I have a friend who manages to get sh*t on his computer ALL the time. He's not looking at porn, he's just browsing images off of Google Image search.

It floors me. I've got good AV software, he's running firefox, noscript, adblock and admuncher.

Yet he still manages to get infected with fake AV stuff.

I've come to the conclusion that he's just EFFING STUPID!

Maybe you suffer from the same problem

Stupid, for getting a virus while reading VN? The very thing you're doing now?

To be fair, I shouldn't be reading VN while I'm at work, but I can't run Firefox/Adblock/Noscript on my work PC, and this is often how I spend the remainder of my lunch break. My company's software is apparently susceptible to whatever the infected ad used to attack my computer, but I wasn't doing anything unusual when I became infected. I don't see how that makes me stupid. It reflects poorly on my company's IT department, however. =/
