We had a newbie in guild, poor kid likes lots of hand holding. A couple of us couldn't help having a wee bit of fun at his expense.
Newb: Do you have to buy a mining pick to do archeology?
Me: Yes, and you need a set of dusters and archeology tools.
Guildie 1: Don't get forget your brushers and archeology kit!
Me: Brushes, dusters, whatever!
Newb: Is it hard? Does it take a lot of gold to level?
Me: Yes. You have to go dig up things and then you have to clean them and get all the pieces to put them together. Takes a lot of time.
Guilde 1: Yeah, once you make things, you need ot save them and turn them into Harrison Jones in Uldum after you've done all his quests.
Me: Yeah, I didn't know that, saving up stuff now. I'm almost out of bag space! And you have pay someone to help you put artifacts together sometimes in order to learn them too.
Newb: Where do you start training it? Is there a quest or something.
Me: Yeah there's a big long quest chain that starts with a dropped item in one of hte digs, have to go farmf or it.
Guildie 1: It's a pain to get the drop but I can tell youa llt eh stuff you'll need to get to finish the quest. 5 Hardened elementium, 4 Pyrium, a stack of Azshara's Veil, 12 volatile earth....
Poor kid was freaking ot at that point so we finally broke told and told him before he started blowing gold on the AH.
Flip side is I made myself paranoid thinking htere might be
something you can do with those little gray items...
