Allow me to offer my humble interpretation...

'Once upon a time my friend got hacked but he got all his stuff back. The cool/funny part is the hacker leveled up his mining skill and got him a level in the process! It was also lucky or just dumb of the hacker to not clean out the guild bank. The end.'

Personally I thought the story was mildly amusing.

That's how I took it and got a chuckle.

Wonder if it was a noobie hacker and this was his first attempt and maybe he got distracted by playing with the "toy" he was supposed to swipe?

There are those who play tank classes, and those that tank.
The weapon is only as good as the person wielding it.
Free advice is often worth what you pay for it: nothing.

Well if the OPs friend waited 3 days more, then he'd be 85

He is still an idiot for not using a good password along with an authenticator.

Unless you're blaming someone on this board, wtf is the point of this thread.

If you think my opinion is idiotic, re-read yours.
Dont worry I will give my opinion anyways.
The PvP MMO is NOT a "niche" market, Mythic is just a "niche" company.

Oh by the way he got all his gear and gold back.

Yeah.. but the hacker got the gold too.. see? The hacker doesnt give a rip that your "friend" got the account back. He has the gold already.. he has the ore he used your "friends" account to mine. It cost him NOTHING. He is on to the next sucker who cant keep a clean PC.

Your post is like laughing at crooks because the didnt get into the vault during a smash and grab at a jewelry store. Sure, they didnt get everything.. but they left with more they came in with! You are laughing at him for achieving exactly what he wanted to achieve!

Sorry..thats how I see it.

Account hacking is out of control. I'm glad I have an authenticator.

I think my boyfriend's inactive account was hacked while we weren't playing. I have a small guild and he was in it... I know for a fact he hasn't played in over 2 years, yet after I recently came back after a year break, it shows on the guild list he last logged in 9 months ago. The guild vault which he had full access to was thankfully untouched. I guess they don't always check those things.

He has no interest in the game, so I don't know what became of his account or characters (the highest of which was only level 39)... but he's been kicked out of my guild.

Same here. I can't believe some peoples reactions in this thread.

I, on the other hand, prefer a command-line system 'cause i'm so hardcore
/north /north *You encounter an [Avatar of the god Set]!*
/cast sheild *sheild spell unavailable*
/csat shield *csat: unknown command*
*[Avatar of Set] beheads [Peasant]*
