I have a character from each class (all alliance), that way I get variety and when class x gets screwed over with a nerf bat or some boggling random change-for-change sake, I have alternatives. Like now, I used to love my hunter, but since 4.0 I pretty don't enjoy playing him anymore, especially in PvP.

Which is another reason I have high hopes for Rift after having played the beta -- loving their massive number of soul/tree combos, I can play many different ways how/when I want. More and more Blizz is starting to dictate how we play, shallower trees, Cataclysm on rails, etc.

that, and while Blizzard "assures" us that they leave us the freedom.
But quietly, they whisper a big "not". (or SIKE! or whatever you call it)

When I saw this post that Change Happens, I thought to myself. Oh god, is this another blue post by blizzard trying to convince us that the game has to change and what they did was for our own good.

Anyway for me, I find a class, I fall in love with it and play the crap out of it. Xpac comes out and totally changes something and I have a hard time getting over that. So I find another class to fall in love with till they gut that class.

This.

Played a Holy Paladin through all of Vanilla.
Switched to Protection Warrior throughout BC.
Played an Unholy DK for the beginning of Wrath until I quit for about a year, came back and played an Ele Shaman.
I'm now playing a Hunter in Cata, mainly for PvP (Bad choice )

I play all classes in every expansion. I'll only have one/two real mains for the expansion though.

Vanilla = Priest and Rogue

TBC = Hunter and Warlock

WoTLK = Druid

Cata = Warrior (until I got sick of patchnotes and unsubscribed)

I've dabbled in all the classes but pretty much only stuck with two: Priest and Paladin.

My favorite tree is Ret but I've only been able to play that and raid a few times in WoW. WotLK was great. I know Paladins were a bit OP but at least I could raid easily and didn't have to fight hard for a spot like I did in BC. People just laughed in Vanilla. I play my paladin about as much as I play my priest in Cata. Neither is winning much favor over the other although Priest is definitely more fun. I just don't want to give up on my paladin.

My favorite tree was Shadow for my priest but during BC, when I couldn't raid with the pally, I found that holy was actually quite enjoyable. It was a whole different challenge learning to heal and heal well. I got pretty good at anticipating damage. That trait saved me the few times I played holy in WotLK. I was terrible at it but managed to still do decently because I knew the fights and knew what kind of damage was coming. Holy has be way fun in Cataclysm. Hard but do-able. Chakras ROCK!

Hey now, I put it in my sig instead of spamming it on every thread like some peeps do.

Edit: Oh and thanks! I promise it's even tastier than it looks! And makes the house smell good too.

Played all kinds before TBC.

Once the death knight came to be, there was no reason to play anything else.

Got alts up to 80, and they all suck compared to DK.

At first I couldn't get the hang of the DK thing so I never liked it. Now I see it for what it is: An Unstoppable Engine of Destruction. I've got three diff on three servers.

I have stuck with my character since I started playing. I have a couple alts, but I like my druid main. I can deal with most changes, but if my character gets significantly nerfed I spend more time with alts or change my spec.
