Maybe, but in the end Blizzard fanboys will not leave WoW no matter what is offered as an alternative. It was true right from beta until now, it's not changing.

Yeah. I really dont see a drastic drop in numbers when Rift comes out. A bunch will leave, but it wont make anyone at Blizz cringe in fear that WoW will be dying anytime soon.

Especially since most of them will be back a month later.

Were they 85's?

Pretty stupid for 85's to get randomed into stonecore or vortex. You get no rep, no useful loot, mobs are too easy (except if you're stupid or suck). I hate getting those instances on 85's...but I don't usually bail on groups unless they suck and can't all be kicked.

Like...people who do 4k dps in heroics...should delete their toons, for ex.

Oh, come on. Ever since wow came out there's been a handful of 'wow killers' and it's never changed anything (and they all failed pretty massively, too).

I don't think he's calling Rift a WoW killer so much as he's pointing out Blizz's shady tactics.

Rift won't be a wow killer but out of all the other wow killers rift is in pretty good shape in beta probably one of the best since wow. Like someone already said I'm just pointing out what blizzard does.. We will probably see some new things on the blizzard store as well for you to buy.

Really? You honestly think Blizzard would do nothing to provide incentives NOT to leave for Rift? Done right, they won't even have to expend much engineering effort. Of course, considering Blizzard will never tell us what they do when new competitors are gearing up for release, your position is secure. That whole "proving a negative" thing...

The last thing I want honestly is a lot of WoW players moving over to Rift (even though yes, I am one of them). Why? The reason I'm sick of WoW in large part is the 'community' [cough][cough]. The level of childlike behavior, rudeness, crassness, 'me! me! me!' attitude, makes me frickin hate it now. And in the PvP battlegrounds (where I use spend most of my game time), these days 1/3 are afk or otherwise botting, 1/3 are just completely clueless morons or intentional asshats, and maybe 1/3 are decent players trying to win.

I miss the days of early mmos like EQ or DAOC where the community was much smaller, tighter, and people's online reps actually counted for something. Hell, I remember a player so well liked by the EQ community, people literally logged on to form an kind of honor guard line as a send off when he decided to leave the game. Sunmoon, if anyone here remembers.

I'm in the dungeon finder last night on my 84 mage.

Group pops, I zone into Stonecore. We are all right at the beginning not a single mob is dead, so this is a brand new dungeon.

Two of the players start saying "kick me kick me kick me" in party chat.

The first vote comes up, I hit no, but it passes. The second vote comes up I hit no and now it can't pass.

The other two guys then realize "hey yeah wtf" and they won't vote kick any more either. So this guy is cussing us out, and raging that we won't kick him. I just put him on ignore and go continue questing for about 20 minutes until he finally drops.

Look, I dunno what he was trying to do, but I'm not going to help him since he's wasting my time. I am going to force him to waste his.

Now... what exactly were these 2 trying to accomplish besides wasting 3 random strangers time? Anyone know? I don't get it.

I think the funny thing is, it's apparently the first boss in the heroic version of Stonecore that everyone hates. Doesn't make any sense why someone wouldn't want to do the regular version, which is apparently pretty easy.

Don't know though since after 3+ years of WoW, I wouldn't ever pug again in an MMO. It also makes me sad considering how much fun I had pugging in CoH and meeting new people.
