I wish there were several different, unique and QUALITY MMORPG's to choose from, whether they are WoW, Rift, the new star wars, or whatever. Competition generally fuels innovation and higher quality, and as much as I like WoW Lord knows it can use a whole lot more of those things!

My MO the last few months, since before Cataclysm was to tell my guild "I'll be back for the expansion, I just need a break". Then the expansion came, and I tried to go back, but I couldn't. I'm not sure if this means I need a longer break or if it means I am done. I hope it is just the former because the number of friends I've made in WoW makes it a game worth keeping.

That´s my "problem" too somewhat, but that`s been like that for the last addons.

Friends keep summoning me back. Atm, I just resub occassionally.

One mistake I don`t want to do again was what I did with Daoc. WoW came out and I started playing that game more. My old guild of buddies vanished over a course of a few months. That was several years ago and the email addresses are just dead :/


Anyways, I have little to no hope about the having fun in the future of wow. Blizzard (or Activpission) is going way to low with that limbo bar. I´d be more of a mouthy player and post on their suggestion boards but a) would just attract trolls b) nothing would get through (and c) EU player ^^, can`t post on US boards).

Saying that Blizzard doesn´t read suggestion board is nonsense, but I must say that Eve Online/CCP is a bit more active. Sheesh, I even requested they would add some alarm sounds upon getting hit and it came soonish.

I don`t know what the next addon will be, but I wouldn`t be surprised if it is a yet another rinse and repeat with more and better rinse and repeats.

This is probably the reason why an obvious wow-clone like Rift is better to sub to in the future - Trion is at least putting exactly that what I´ve been hoping for: flexible class system, no limited spec bullcrap etc.

Beyond Rift, I am looking forward to that Warhammer40k MMOG too. About time we get some World of Starcraft in the true and real WH40k style.

Exactly why I quit end game stuff on my 85's and am actually having fun just leveling alts instead.

I parrot the idea that Rift is absolutely nothing new. However, after only several hours in the beta, I think it's better (technically, artistically, and from a developer-to-end-user perspective) and a lot more fun during the early levels.

WoW is still a good game, generally speaking. But they handed the reigned over to a rank amateur (Ghostcrawler) and for the ONLY time in years people are by and large unhappy with what they have done (it's essentially Everquest now).

Blizzard can save their game by firing Ghostcrawler immediately and focusing on content and engine enhancements. But they won't. Watch Rome fall.

It's normal for people to get hyped up about new MMORPGs that look good initially.


Unfortunately, MMORPG reality dictates that most MMORPGs aren't that good. The truly good MMORPGs are few in number and none of them holds a candle to WoW.


Some will hold on to the lesser game just to do something different or because they are that sick of WoW no matter how good it is, but many will be back after a short diversion once reality sets in.

Then, let me ask you why the "mass exodus" due to 4.0.6, where players are just "quitting" without saying they are going to any other game?

WoW is far from perfect.
