Ugh, who advertises their guild based on guild bank size, level, or ... well I know the answer to this one... how many bosses they've downed? Makes me very sad to think online communities have been dumbed down to this.

This is why I'm waiting patiently for an entirely new and unique MMO. Eventually it will de-evolve to the point of emulating WoW simply because WoW refugees always flock to new games, at least for a while. But I'm hoping that I will find a new MMO where the community is more concerned about the whole and not the individual. Obviously this won't last, but it should be safe for a year a two.
On the other hand, the Anarchy Online community hasn't quite gotten to that point yet, and it's what... 4 years older than WoW? Maybe I'll rejoin their ranks and see for myself, especially considering that game requires FAR FAR more number crunching and power gaming that WoW, yet hasn't (to my knowledge) turned into a giant epeen war.

Normally they just advertise the fact that they have a guild bank.. and a tabard.
My guild is pretty tight-knit, we raid 10-man and don't have many more players than our core raid team. We used to comfortably hit the xp cap every day when people were running a lot of heroics, things have slowed down recently though since people no longer have much reason to do heroics. Still, we're level 14, not too far behind the curve. And we downed Nef last weekend to finally get 12/12 progression and unlock the dark phoenix mount, so I expect an enthusiasm burst as people push to get exalted guild rep so they can buy one.

The ironic thing is the achievement "Everyone Needs a Logo" is bugged adn doesn't work most of hte time. WE've chagned our guild tabard numerous times for this and it hasn't worked yet.
I'm not impressed witht he guild advancement system. If they want ot make it all guild friendly they could try basing the exp percetnages instead of flat numbers. A guild of 3 needs 300 xp to advance, a guild 100 need 100000 to advance. /shrug Something of that nature.
I will admit if I get bored or irritated at my guild now though I won't quit. Why? I want the armadillo pet.

I have a small guild, we just hit level 8 I think (the hasty hearth one - very nice) - we're obviously not advancing very fast.
I don't really mind, though. We'll get there eventually, and I certainly don't need the perks right away. And it makes it all the nicer when we do manage to get enough of us on to run a heroic together or something (although we haven't done anything in a couple weeks now... everyone has been very sporadic lately).
