How the hell are people managing to screw up that one?
The only time I've killed Throngus on my healer I did almost 12k hps, which is almost 2x what any other hc fight requires, so yeah, it can be finger-bleeding hard without proper tactics.
Why? Bad positioning for the puddles, bad luck with the grip, people standing far away eating multiple fire shield aoes, whatever. I dunno how it is after the nerf tho.

I accidentally entered Heroic GB and I found this boss incredibly difficult... definately the Shield phase - the group was relatively spread out and he left puddles all over the place, plus the AOE rockfall and then decided to start AOE fire damage. I was stuck near the entrance along with a hunter, surrounded by puddles, he decided to chain fire breath the two of us... the dispersion of the fire meant we took a lot of damage just moving out of the way (also through puddles) and it took both of us down... my mana/regen wasn't enough to spam FH to top people up enough...

Kill boss, avoid s**t - This is literally the strategy for 90% of the bosses, I don't see how there could be a top 10 'hard' list.

The only tough boss is "Ranugelofodu". (RNGLFD)
Give me one moron in a 5 man and it can be overcome every time.
2 Morons can usually be overcome depending on gear quality of one of the other pugs.
3 morons is still possible to be overcome IF the other 2 are geared to the hilt and at least one of them is either tank of healer.
4 morons or undergeared combination= drop group and requeue.
Note:Being undergeared doesnt make you a moron. Doing 3or4k dps does. Standing in fire does.

Every boss in WoW is easy. Everything about WoW is easy.
The only reason anyone has any trouble at all is because they are mouth-breathing baddies that could never hope to play as well as I do. But then again, I am in an elite guild, something the rest of the peasants can't possibly aspire to be. I know my class inside and out, which comes from the 14 hours per day I put in.
In fact, I am so talented and special that the heroic level bosses have a poll on their message boards featuring their 10 hardest encounters. Naturally, I am #1.
There we go, I've covered the gamut of responses I would expect to see here.

The hardest 3 I can think of, when I was doing pugs (oh god so long ago) were
1. Ripsnarl in Deadmines. Maybe because people are too lazy to swap to the vapors, or maybe their damage just sucks. Either way I never ended up killing this guy in pugs.
2. Ozruk in Stonecore. 'nuff said.
3. Baron Ashbury Pre-Nerf. Either not enough healing, people missing interupts or just low damage making it take ages.
