I looked around on several forums before posting here, and I did not see another post like it. Forgive me if

it's already been posted.


I was farming lower level cloth with my 85 balance druid to level tailoring on an alt when I noticed

that if I killed something with Typhoon (unglyphed so it still has the knockback)

and the corpse was knocked away from me, I was unable to loot the corpse.

I get the error message that I am too far away to loot that corpse,

even though I'm literally standing on top of it.

At first I thought maybe I was lagging a little, as this does

happen to me from time to time. But after several intentional trials, I've come to conclude that it's not a lag issue,

and it only happens if I kill the mob using typhoon.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem?


Obviously I won't be finishing mobs off with typhoon anymore to avoid this, but I'm curious if it's a bug/glitch.

My wow account was created in classic and I've played wow some what consistently

over the last six years. I've played the same druid since my very first day of playing.


If youre talking about my vn board account, I had one years ago that was dectivated. So

I made a new one and, well, you have to start somewhere dont you?

You dont just create an account and have 1000 posts already linked to you.


I love how people can ask "where can I get tanking gear" (no offense to the OP, just using it as an example)

and get valid responses, but when I simply ask if other druids have encountered the same issue, I get dribble and silly accusations.

This is why I dont post on forums often.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go find a forum that doesnt accuse me of buying

any accounts on eBay just for asking a very SIMPLE question.

Will it be in vain?

Most likely.

But I'd rather look elsewhere than post here again.

Rhap, were you on tilted or hilly terrain?

I ask, because if falling damage is what killed the creature, it might be a reason why you would not get the loot option at all.


Being "out of range" has always seemed to me to be a communication error of some sort..I have gotten it on various toons, from time to time, usually a relog fixes the issue.


Suggestions:

Relog, see if it still happens.

Turn off all addons, see if it still happens.

Backup yout WTF folder, then delete it from your game dir. (it will be reconstructed when you login again)

If the last fixes the problem, then somewhere your info has become corrupted. Copy keybindings and custom settings from the backup to the new one, and you're in good shape.

If a new WTF did not fix it, just copy your backup back to where it was.

Playing a moonkin as my main I must say that this has brought a lot of light to the problem. There have been many times where I couldn't loot a corpse for someo reason with it always saying "you are too far away" or whatever. After reading this post I went and tested it and it indeed seems to be the issue. If you kill a mob with typhoon and it knocks the enemy back you will be unable to loot the body. I suggest submitting an in game ticket for it and if you can post it on the official bugs forums.

That should work if it's really important enough to loot. Where the body appears to the client isn't where the server thinks it is. Download the info from the server again and it will agree.
